Animal Crossing New Horizons obviously celebrates Halloween thanks to the 1.5.0 update. And if the event does take place on October 31, it will have to be prepared in advance to avoid bad luck.
Preparing for Halloween in Animal Crossing New Horizons
By launching the game in October, Marie warns you of several things. She tells you about sweets and pumpkins. This announcement will be useful since it will be necessary to stock up on both in advance.
Indeed, if you can buy candies at the Nook shop, there is a very strict limit. A player can only buy one candy per day. We don't yet know how many will be needed on the 31st, but we might as well buy as many as possible just in case so as not to be limited to 1 on D-Day.
Marie also talks to you about disguise. Kits to obtain new skin and eye colors are waiting for you at the NookStop terminal in exchange for a few Miles. But that's not all since there are also special clothes on sale at the Fairy Fingers Sisters. We therefore advise you to launch the game once a day in October to buy the candy and check the goods of Layette.
October 31
Jacqu'O will visit your island on October 31 from 17 p.m. to midnight. This is an opportunity to exchange your candies for blueprints to use the pumpkins grown so far. If you haven't stocked up, then it'll be too late to buy candies, plant pumpkins, or buy the Halloween furniture series from the upgraded Nook Shop.
To start the event, put the candies in your inventory and find Jacqu'O on your island to talk to him. He then offers you to assist him, which you can accept by answering “I am obliged to you, Highness. ". He then asks you for a first candy which gives you the first reward: a Jacqu'O dress. He also teaches you the Bewitchment mimicry and sends you in search of lollipops from the inhabitants of the island.
The characters you meet ask you for candies. If you have any, they'll give you a Halloween-themed piece of furniture, a blueprint for one of the pieces of furniture in this series, or a lollipop. During the first exchanges, they will give you the carpet, the floor and the Halloween wall and will teach you the Fear mimicry.
The lollipops are to be reserved for Jacqu'O who will give you a Halloween Calèche, his plan and then the plan for the Halloween Wand for each lollipop. Know that he will also give you a mask of Jacqu'O if you give him a candy.
Equipping his mask and robe will scare the townspeople into giving you candies instead of asking for them, perfect if you're starting to run out of candies.
The other way to get it is to go visit those who stayed at home. If you wear a costume, they will reward your effort with a candy.
You can claim or gift candies on a loop until you get all 14 Halloween blueprints. If someone has traded with you before, they just ask you to come back to them once you've talked to other dwellers.
