Animal Crossing New Horizons has a crafting system and the hardest materials to get are probably Star Fragments. We have therefore prepared this little guide for you to make the most of shooting stars.

Shooting stars can appear at night when the sky is fairly clear. No need to wait, the stars are far too random and rare for this method to be viable. Play normally but with the sound turned up high so you can hear the little dings that signal a shooting star. Note that in general, several shooting stars appear in a row.

The presence of Céleste, Thibou's sister, is a sign that it's a rainy evening of shooting stars which will therefore be much more numerous than usual. Celeste comes to your island once a month to give you crafting plans related to star fragments.

How to get shards?

When you hear small dings, you must immediately let go of the object you are holding (by pressing down on the directional pad). You also need to point the camera skyward by tilting the right stick up (once or twice depending on your base camera). Press A to pray, taking care not to be near any item or villager so you don't interact with them instead of praying. If successful, the star will shine much brighter.

To recover your fragments, you will then have to wait until the next day. The fragments will be waiting for you on the sand of your beaches. Know that no matter how many times you managed to pray the day before, there cannot be more than 20 fragments on the beach.

We find the star fragments which are the most basic, but also the large star fragments which are much rarer. These two types are available all year round, unlike the fragments linked to the astrological signs that are found at the period that corresponds to them. Note that the hemisphere has no impact on the fragments that can be found.
