Tier list, best characters – Genshin Impact

Released last September, Genshin Impact has already brought together many players. By offering an open world that is teeming with details, there is no shortage of activities. Among these, we find of course, the search for the best characters. Gacha obliges, there are heroes who are better than others, or who excel in an area and are therefore more relevant depending on what you are doing.

On this page you will find our tier list de Genshin Impact, with the best characters according to their ability to fight as well as their skills, in exploration or in dungeons. Note that this tier list will evolve over time, the arrival of new faces but also potential balances. The last update dates from April 06, 2021, in version 1.4.

Before reading the rest, know that this is above all an opinion of our team, and especially highlights the use of characters in a group for various uses (abyss etc…). Moreover, we are based on characters without constellations – in C0. We invite you to then read our comments on each character, who sometimes comes to defend some of them.

    • April 06 update : Following the arrival of the Dosdragon Mountains dungeon, the use of cryo/hydro artefacts made it possible to upset certain ranks (Kaeya for example). We also added Xiao, Hu Tao and took Zhongli's changes into account).

Tier list, best characters – Genshin Impact

In this image, you will find the best tier list for Genshin Impact. This tier list groups the best characters according to all their characteristics. Of course, some excel a little better than others in one area. Similarly, for your team compositions, it is sometimes useful to juggle according to the elements, and draw according to your needs in elementary synergy. This is a general tier list, without highlighting a focus (Explosion, DPS etc…).

Note that the characters are positioned in their order of strength also on the same line, from left to right. We now draw up the tier list for you, with an enumeration and a few comments. Also, it is worth noting that Genshin Impact having no PvP, this tier list mainly represents the overall qualities of each character.

Each player will have their own preferences and favorites in the team depending on how they play. Although it still reflects the qualities and faults of the characters, this tier list reste subjective. It combines the efficiency of characters at high level (+AR40), in dungeons, in the abyss and in general.

    Rank SS

    • ganyu
    • Hu Tao
    • Zhongli
    • Dilute
    • Winds
    • Bennett
    • tartaglia
    • Klee

undeniably, Dilute is a main DPS of choice. He's great for synergies, hits really hard as the main character, and his skills come back fast. However, since the arrival of Hu Tao et ganyu, it is clear that he now has serious competitors as a main DPS. Hu Tao is an incredible Pyro alternative, while Ganyu is an archer who hits in the zone and with often very high damage.

Then comes Zhongli, a much maligned character upon his arrival but who experienced a fairly noticeable buff following feedback from the community. Useful in all compositions, Zhongli is a good tank but mainly helps thanks to his shield. Lasting 20 seconds and can be used every 12 seconds, it depends on the character's hit points. And as much to tell you, Zhongli is embedded in all compositions to protect your team while bringing significant Geo damage.

Winds who is an excellent anemo character who can use and abuse elemental synergies and reactions, and will be ideal in the abyss. Bennett is also a very good Pyro element, and turns out to be a support of choice, unfortunately somewhat erased by the presence of Diluc. But let's face it: Bennett is arguably the best support right now, in addition to being an affordable 4★. It heals, boosts attack, and is a great battery.

tartaglia is a more complex character to place in this tier list, since the Hydro units are not so crucial, knowing that he mainly draws his power when he goes into melee attacks. Excellent DPS all the same in this mode, but more complex to master. With its area damage and skills that lend themselves perfectly to synergies, Klee logically positions herself behind and describes herself as a very effective fighter.

    Rank S

    • Xing Qiu
    • fishl
    • Xiao
    • keqing
    • Mona
    • Jean
    • Razor
    • albedo
    • dione

With this tier list update, Xing Qiu moved up a few places. It must be said that the prince brings a Hydro support of choice and adapts very well in the Hydro team compositions. As a gel combo for example, it excels. But he is above all very good with the majority of the characters, which allows him to be placed almost everywhere.

It is then followed by fishl which is quite simply one of the best DPS 4★ supports in the game. And that's one of the reasons why it ranks so well since it's easier to get than the other 5★s on the list . It can be used as a support as well as a DPS hand, in addition to attacking easily in electro. But we remember it especially in sub DPS: it places Oz, we abuse elementary reactions and the DPS contribution is quite crazy.

Xiao is unfortunately only ranked S Rank by our team. Not because he is weaker than a Diluc or Hu Tao, far from it, since the spearman is excellent. However, he doesn't feature as many synergies as the other characters, and his Anemo element isn't prominent enough, except for tapping. But make no mistake: Xiao hurts extremely.

Then, here we find two electro DPS who hit very hard, keqing et Razor. Both are very good elements but are slightly limited by flaws: Keqing takes time to show its potential in constellation while Razor is mainly useful when DPS, and has very little interest when trying to combine it with other units. Jean as for her, she is a very good support, and allows you to have an anemo element in your team.

do not forget Mona in this list, who, just like Xingqiu, is an excellent Hydro character. It could easily have been put on the same level as the latter, if not higher, but it is a 5 star, unlike its counterpart. However, Mona can turn out to be an excellent Hydro character alongside Ganyu for example or in a gel team. And speaking of gel, dione, is a balanced character, who works well in his attacks. It will be used mainly in Cryo support.

Last but not least, albedo is also a little shunned in this classification. Not for lack of interest, but more in the face of competition. Although a very strong 5-star character, it must be said that Zhongli's buff makes him more interesting as a Geo fighter. Nevertheless, it brings significant advantages and fits very well into the free-to-play teams.

    Rang A

    • Xiangling
    • Beidou
    • chongyun
    • Sucrose
    • Qiqi
    • ningguang
    • kaeya

Xiangling, is a very good support. Its invocation allows you to diffuse fire and can offer a good synergy. It is also useful in DPS but it is its ultimate that gives it interest: it remains when you change character and hit hard in Pyro element. But it's also the cooldown of this ult that keeps it from shining any higher. It will, however, be much better with a high constellation, such as the Pyro buff when the ult is placed.

Before Ganyu arrived, chongyun was easily considered the best main DPS in cryo. However, it is less useful since then, just like in support, and its usefulness will therefore vary depending on your configuration. It's a bit the same sadness for Sucrose, often considered a low-cost version of Venti. Nevertheless, her skills allow very powerful elemental reactions to shine, and she is not to be neglected, in the abyss for example.

Finally, note Beidou and Ningguang in this rank A. Beidou is often considered an unhelpful character, especially because of its heaviness and lack of synergy. However, she remains a good main DPS by hitting hard and with skills that hurt your opponents. However, she remains behind a Razor. As for ningguang, he's also a good primary DPS but his skills aren't the most useful in dungeons and boss fights.

Note also Qiqi who dropped in our rankings in this April update: not as useful as Bennett, Qiqi rarely manages to shine. It's a shame since she is an excellent healer, often allowing the life of the whole team to be restored in a flash. But apart from the cryo element that she poses, rarely combined with anything else, she is no longer as useful. It is the opposite for kaeya which has slightly gained interest thanks to the set Cryo which arrived with the new Dosdragon Mountains dungeon.

    Rank B

    • xinyan
    • Voyager (Geo)
    • Traveler (Anemo)
    • Barbara
    • Noelle

If we hadn't mentioned the other healers, Barbara could have slipped higher, in particular thanks to its being free on several occasions. An excellent healer, she also combines her Hydro element very well with the rest of the team since her aura remains present. Unfortunately, it only serves as a heal and as a Hydro element, which will make it lose some interest, where Qiqi, Bennett and others will do much better.

Here come the Become a Kasa NATURE Traveler. as anemo et Geo. Very good characters in a free-to-play team, their skills are useful but never match the other characters in their element. xinyan also makes an appearance, a rather nice and original pyro claymore. Although very correct in DPS, it is completely erased by other Pyro elements much more powerful - or useful - like Hu Tao and Diluc.

And finally, we find Noelle, which could have been a good element but which struggles on many other aspects. Noelle is a decent DPS but gets outclassed by all the other Geo elements, Ningguang in the lead. A good tank but not very useful for the moment.

    Rank C

    • Amber
    • Lisa

Unfortunately, despite being free and joining the team very quickly, Amber will quickly prove to be a useless unit. As soon as you unlock another archer/archer, Amber will unfortunately be relegated to the reserve. Low damage, low Pyro element spread, it will still be useful if you don't have Diluc, Bennett or Xiangling. However, by mounting her constellations and tapping on her cub, she can surprisingly prove to be very powerful.

And finally Lisa, shamefully put at the bottom of the ranking by our team. Many would have put it at least higher rank, but while effective in its attacks, has totally unwarranted cooldowns. That's a shame.

Here, we are not going to dwell on what we have already mentioned above or in our character guides. But you get a glimpse of the best DPS you play as the main fighter.
