Genshin Impact sees the arrival of the Dosdragon Mountains area thanks to its 1.2 update. No cryoculus since it is not a new region in its own right, but we find a very similar system. Indeed, there is a Permafrost Tree which asks for offerings on the same principle of the Statues of the Seven. And this time, here is the guide to the locations of the Purple Agates, with the exact location of each of them on the map that we list for you right here.
Since the Dosdragon Mountains are very condensed, and the exploration is mostly vertical, it is difficult to clearly separate the areas, especially to the southeast of this location. So don't be surprised to see Agates listed in "Luminousstar Cave" while the agates are on the surface, since we have chosen to classify all the agates of the south of the Monts in the area of the Grotto Luminétoile. The same goes for the agates east of the mountains, which are included in the closest areas on the map.
This guide is currently being written, purple agates are being added to it as we explore. This article will therefore be regularly updated, and completed within a few days.. Each time we add agates, we will indicate which agates were added and on what date so that you can find it more easily as you go along.
Update 24/12/2020: Addition of the following agates:

New update 24/12: After completing all of the agates, we can say that there are only about 80. Beyond that, there are challenges to achieve, which are detailed at the bottom of the article. Note that currently, the location of some agates is still missing in our article, which will be updated just after the Christmas festivities.

It is possible that some agates in nature are missing (do not hesitate to let us know which ones), but for the moment, here is all the agates that we could find. With all the agates listed, you will be able to reach Tier 8 of the tree, allowing you to access challenges that give agates as rewards, in order to climb to the maximum tier in a few days/weeks.

Purple Agate 01
- Location: This purple agate is the easiest to find since it's the one that appears just to the right of the Permafrost Tree when you unlock it.
Purple Agate 02
- Location : This agate is hidden under the snow. You will need to find a blood rock near this position to then destroy the layer of ice on the ground.
Purple Agate 03
- Location : Simply located on the walls of the cliff at the indicated place.
Purple Agate 04
- Location : All above a stone peak at the indicated place.
Purple Agate 05
- Location : Located in the air near an arch that follows the main road.
Purple Agate 06
- Location : Located in a chest that is placed inside a cabin, at the far end of the area near Dadaupa Valley.
Purple Agate 07
- Location : Located in the air between two trees. Climb these or hover from a height to reach it.
Dragonsnore Valley
Purple Agate 01
- Location : Placed above one of the dragon fossils.
Purple Agate 02
- Location : Located in the open air. Hover from the location indicated on the screen to reach it.
Purple Agate 03
- Location : The agate is inside a wind circle, so you need to pick up the surrounding anemogranums to fly and glide inside the circle.
Purple Agate 04
- Location : You have to collect three anemogranums around the lake to get it. One of them is located on the other side of the lake (compared to Diluc on the screen), the second is in a beached boat and the third is at the foot of the agate.
Purple Agate 05
- Location : Located inside a chest in the indicated area.
Purple Agate 06
- Location : Floats in the air, you have to hover from the walls to reach it.
Purple Agate 07
- Location : Located on an ice spike near the area ice crystal, below the arena. You must therefore complete the puzzle before you can locate it. To do this, follow our dedicated article.
Purple Agate 08
- Location : At the end of a path west of the large dragon bones.
Purple Agate 09
- Location : Hidden inside a chest which is located near the mechanism to activate the arena of the area, where five Cryo steles rest.
Purple Agate 10
- Location : On the cliff walls at the indicated place, but covered with ice. Go to the foot of the mountain to find a blood crystal to destroy it.
Purple Agate 11
- Location : It is necessary to activate plates on the ground following the order indicated on these images, before seeing the agate in a chest. Note that Plate 5 is below the ice, and a Blood Crystal can be found just a bit further, northwest of Diluc in the first image.
Ancient Palace of the Buried City
Purple Agate 01
- Location : From the Statue of the Seven, turn around and jump into the hole formed by the stone circle to glide up to it.
Purple Agate 02
- Location : You will first need to defeat a guardian in the area in order to unlock access to a mechanism that will lower the water. The agate is in a chest in the ravine.
Purple Agate 03
- Location : You have to go to the very bottom of the area, on the coast, to see this chest guarded by several monsters.
Purple Agate 04
- Location : Hidden in an alcove near the previous agate.
Purple Agate 05
- Location : Near the previous agate, you will see anemogranums to harvest. Take the last one located on the ice platform that is about to break to fly to the agate.
Purple Agate 06
- Location : From the Statue of the Seven, glide towards the side to find it on your way.
Purple Agate 07
- Location : To find this one, you will have to go back to the Dadaupa Valley. You'll need to find a Blood Crystal on the cliff face (first image), before shooting an arrow at the ice below on an islet. The agate is located inside the chest.
Purple Agate 08
- Location : In a chest that is in the secret room that is unlocked by activating the 8 steles in the area. To learn more, see our article dedicated to this quest.
Purple Agate 09
- Location : Levite in the air, south of the Statue of the Seven. Go from the latter and hover until you see it.
Purple Agate 10
- Location : Is located not far from the previous agate, still outside, on a mountain peak.
Purple Agate 11
- Location : You will have to beat the Boar King to get this agate. Go to the indicated point, then thaw the boars in the area before killing them, which will make the king appear. The latter is formidable, especially since the Great Cold complicates things. A Brazier can be found just north of the arena, so feel free to warm up there. It's not often advised, but let one of your characters get knocked down by the king, since then you'll unlock an achievement. Kill him to get another success, and make the chest containing the agate appear. This location is also great for completing the (Pretty) Fresh Meat quest that you'll find at the Adventurer's Camp by talking to Harris.
Purple Agate 12
- Location : Start from the Statue of the Seven and go into the cave to the south (you must have cleared the passage to access the Celestial Chuck). On the right after the entrance to the cave, you will see a wall of stones to be broken, with the agate at the end of the path.
Purple Agate 13
- Location : At the entrance of the cave which leads to the Celestial Mandrin. The agate is located on a frosted barrel placed in water.
Purple Agate 14
- Location : In the cave that leads to the Celestial Chuck, near the Statue of the Seven, you will find rocks to destroy just to the right of the entrance, hiding a makeshift camp. Put Berries in the small bowl near the campfire for a week, every day, so that the little foxes come to feed. Don't kill them. On the last day, a precious chest will be present in the company of the foxes with an agate and a success to unlock.
Outskirts of the Buried City
Purple Agate 01
- Location : Located between two trees in the air. Glide from the cliff walls to reach it.
Purple Agate 02
- Location : In a chest that is hidden in a cabin and guarded by monsters.
Purple Agate 03
- Location : In a precious chest which is guarded by a Brutofrost Chieftain.
Purple Agate 04
- Location : On a bad road, with two monsters waiting for you.
Purple Agate 05
- Location : Above a snow peak at the location indicated on the map.
Purple Agate 06
- Location : In a chest guarded by a Brutofrost leader in the plain.
Purple Agate 07
- Location : All above a cliff in the area indicated on the map.
Purple Agate 08
- Location : You must pass a challenge with monsters to kill in less than 3 minutes to be rewarded with three chests, one of which contains purple agate.
Purple Agate 09
- Location : You will need to complete the leveling challenge in time to gain access to the chest that contains the Crimson Agate.
Purple Agate 10
- Location : This agate is located simply on the cliff, very close to the leveling challenge of the previous agate.
Purple Agate 11
- Location : Two agates are located here. To unlock them, you will have to lower the water level in the area. Defeat the guardian, then activate the four Cryo steles that are nearby to unlock the mechanism. Once the water is down, dive into the hole and destroy a stone wall to find the agate.
Purple Agate 12
- Location : On your way to purple agate 11, press the mechanism near the portal to open it. Behind is a blood crystal, which you can collect and then quickly climb back up and destroy the ice blocking the door of a wooden prison in agate room 11. The agate is inside the chest .
Purple Agate 13
- Location : Under a tent guarded by several enemies, inside a chest.
Luminétoile Caves
Purple Agate 01
- Location : On the roof of an abandoned hut.
Purple Agate 02
- Location : In a hut guarded by monsters, and more precisely in a chest.
Purple Agate 03
- Location : Located in the air above a cliff.
Purple Agate 04
- Location : On an arch in the very south of the area, near the water.
Purple Agate 05
- Location : In a chest (the one on the right) located next to two others at the end of the path indicated on the map.
Purple Agate 06
- Location : In the air, in the middle of a stone structure near a teleport point.
Purple Agate 07
- Location : Between two stone stalactites in the cave, above the ice crystal.
Purple Agate 08
- Location : In a precious chest that appears after passing the test available at the bottom of the cave, near the crystal.
Purple Agate 09
- Location : Right next to the previous agate, under water. A patch of ice hides it, but all you have to do is step on it for it to collapse.
Purple Agate 10
- Location : Inside the secret room which is unlocked by bringing together three chests. We tell you more about this quest in our dedicated article.
Purple Agate 11
- Location : At the edge of the zone, in the air. You have to jump from the cliff to glide up to it.
Purple Agate 12
- Location : from the teleportation point indicated at the very east of the area, swim (or walk on the ice blocks) to the agate.
Purple Agate 13
- Location : Nestled above a tree on a small islet north of the indicated teleport point.
Purple Agate 14
- Location : At the very south of the area, near a Brazier. You will need to defeat a Ruin Guardian to unlock access to the chest that contains the agate.
Purple Agate 15
- Location : To unlock the agate at this location, you will need to solve a puzzle with the help of a Fairy. You will have to light the cache torches next to the small corner of water to attract the Fairy to you, and light the Braziers on the way. A single torch is hidden under a pile of snow near the beached boat. Then aim for the Cryo stele to reveal three chests, one of which contains the agate.
Purple Agate 16
- Location : located in a chest which is itself in a shed just below Agate 01.
Purple Agate 17
- Location : Within the cave, under an arch near stalactites.
Purple Agate 18
- Location : in one of the corridors of the cave, halfway up towards a path that leads to an exit near a teleportation point. You'll spot a wall of ice to break with a blood crystal, which hides a secret room, where you'll find some notes and the chest. Note that you will need to have freed the fragment from the cave to access the chest (unless you climb up here from the side of the mountain).
Purple Agate 19
- Location : Under an arch, in the air and near an exit to an arena with a guardian of the ruins, in the cave.
Purple Agate 20
- Location : Outside the cave, on a cliff peak. The entrance with the guardian of the ruins is right next to it.

Before accessing this area, you will have to complete the quest "The creature of the mountains". You can consult our article dedicated to the latter for more information.
Purple Agate 01
- Location : On a broken pillar right next to the area's teleport point.
Purple Agate 02
- Location : Can be found at the gates of the Vindagnyr Peak dungeon, inside a chest.
Purple Agate 03
- Location : At the end of the mountains, at the top of the peak. You will also get the “Awesome Achievement” achievement. We advise you to collect agates 09 and 10 before climbing up here.
Purple Agate 04
- Location : On a collapsed pillar on the path that leads to the top of the Celestial Chuck.
Purple Agate 05
- Location : You will need to activate two mechanisms hidden under the ice to open the portal hiding the chest with the agate. You will find a Blood Crystal by backtracking near a collapsed guardian.
Purple Agate 06
- Location : In the arena of the Brutofrost boss of the area, in a chest near a Fairy and a Blood Crystal.
Purple Agate 07
- Location : On a broken tower, right next to the arena of the Chief Brutofrost, in height.
Purple Agate 08
- Location : You will have to find an Anemo stele, located near the previous agate in height, in order to unlock a current of air which will make you pass through rings of wind, to recover the agate at the end.
Purple Agate 09
- Location : Starting from the end point of the previous agate, follow the main path to climb until you see the agate near the ruins.
Purple Agate 10
- Location : Very close to agate 09, in a chest located on the main path to climb to the top.
Purple Agate 11
- Location : On a large tower that floats in the middle of the area, after unlocking Vindagnyr Peak. You can climb up here by using the Anémo stele near agate 03, then climbing the tower. You will achieve success at the same time.
Purple Agate 12
- Location : On a side of the mountain. Start from the top and hover until you see it.
Purple Agate 13
- Location : Also located on a mountainside, just a little lower than the previous agate.
Complete the Permafrost Tree 100%
Once you have reached Tier 8 and therefore brought in at least 70 Crimson Agates, you will unlock the famous Northern Spear Prototype. Moreover, once this level is reached, it is no longer necessary to search for the location of the agates. Admittedly, there are still a few lost agates (4 more as far as we know) but you have a new mechanic.
Indeed, the Tree launches the Desire scarlet. Challenges appear on your map with an icon. There are 5 each refresh and they allow you to harvest an agate each time. However, you will have to wait a bit since the update seems to be done twice a week. In addition, it allows you to advance in the weekly challenge of the Battle Pass: " Complete Scarlet Challenge 5 times ».
These are basic challenges as we are used to: challenges of flying and shooting in a limited time or even enemies to defeat in a given place. You will understand that we will not list all the variants for you since these are objectives that you have undoubtedly encountered many times. Like the reputation levels, it is therefore not possible to complete the Permafrost Tree at once, you will have to redo these challenges for several days/weeks.
