All About Island Bylaws – Animal Crossing New Horizons

In addition to the Happy Home Paradise extension, Animal Crossing New Horizons welcomed its 2.0 update. This brought the Robusto Café and novelties to Joe's Island as well as a comfort option that fans have been waiting for: island decrees. These will make your life on the island easier and allow you to take advantage of some changes. We tell you everything.

Summary

What are island orders for?

Island by-laws allow you to issue a kind of decree: you demand a specific change on your island, such as shops must close later. An island decree is therefore a rule for your little corner of paradise. However, be careful, there can only be one island order at the same time. You can change it (once a day) but choose it well.

How to promulgate an island order?

As Marie says so well on our screenshot, to have an island order, all you need is:

  • Go to the residents' office
  • To talk to Mary
  • And to choose the option "Let's talk about decrees"

You can then choose the decree. Note that once established, the decree will be implemented the next day. Establishing an island decree costs 20 bells.

What do the different decrees do?

There are currently 4 island orders. You can only have one at a time and you don't know if more will come. Here's what they do:

  • Bylaw on Charm Maintenance : This one encourages villagers to maintain your island and water the flowers. There will be less weeds and the holes will be filled. Be careful, however, there will always be "dirt" but will be less present.
  • Stopped on the morning sunrise : Encourages the villagers to get up later and the shops to open earlier: you can thus do your shopping at earlier times and the villagers also get up earlier
  • Stopped on late bed : This is the opposite of the previous decree, the shops and the inhabitants will watch later. Perfect if you want to play in the evening
  • Order on price inflation : Stores buy and sell more expensive items

As you have understood, each decree has its advantages and disadvantages. The two concerning the schedules will be able to arrange you according to your rhythm of life and thus play at times which suit you. Note that the decree on the maintenance of the charm of the island has a defect: you will no longer have weeds and waste which can sometimes be useful in the manufacturing plans. As for inflation, we advise you to do so only temporarily, when you make a massive resale for example.

There you go, you know everything about island decrees. You can join our Discord server to discuss the game with other players. Other tips are also available in our Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0 guide.
