Even if your island isn't that big in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you might want to keep the minimap on the screen all the time. Or on the contrary, no longer display it at all. If the game does not have an options menu, it is still possible to change the display of the mini-map.

With or without mini-map?

You have to open the NookPhone with ZL then go to the Map application. Pressing X in this app will toggle between the three mini-map display modes: hidden on the move, always hidden, and always shown.

So press X until the text in the lower right indicates the mode that suits you and exit the Nook Phone to see the change.
