Why are flowers important?

It is true that the question may arise. After all, if for many it seems like just a decorative element, flowers are much more than that. No, don't expect any savings around the flowers (they sell for 40 and 80 bells/unit for the basic and hybrid flowers respectively) but they will mainly be used for your baby therapy.

The main reason is insects. Indeed, having flowers allows you to have insects that land on them. This allows you to fill your list or sell it to make bells. But you should know that insects will be exclusive to certain flowers, especially cross flowers. It is therefore important to maintain a small garden.

Types of flowers

You should know that the flowers are divided into two separate groups

The basic flowers

These are the flowers that can be found everywhere and that can be obtained directly on our island or the mystery islands. They can be:

Yellows
red
white

hybrid flowers

These are flowers that must be created from a cross. By crossing two species, you will get a third. Here is the list of possible hybrid flowers:

Oranges
Roses
Green
Violets
blue
black

Once you have hybrid flowers, you can more easily put them all over your island. Logically, to cross them, you need to take two basic colors.

If each flower has a color, it also belongs to a species. Thus, each species can have several colors. At the launch of Animal Crossing New Horizons, we count eight species of flowers, to know :

Anemones
Cosmos
Pansies
Light
Jacinthes
Roses
Tulips
Chrysanthemums

You should know that, just like fruit trees, there will be native species on your island. You will therefore not have access to all the species at the beginning. It will be necessary to go to its neighbors or on a mystery island to recover other species of flowers.
