Animal Crossing New Horizons offers several activities to break the monotony of island life. One of them is the treasure hunt offered from time to time by the villagers. Here is a little guide to help you succeed in this little event.
How to successfully treasure hunt in Animal Crossing New Horizons?
Impossible to predict when a treasure hunt will take place. In some cases, the villager who organizes the event will challenge you on his own. In others, he will have a small cloud above his head. And it also wants to be signs of other things such as a new facial expression, a desire to leave or a gift...
Before talking to him or answering him, some checks are necessary. The treasure being buried, you will need a shovel. And since it's timed, you might as well say that the event will be all the easier if you have set up enough infrastructure to circulate easily or if you have the pole and the ladder with you.
Having already found the four fossils of the day will also allow you not to waste time. Indeed, you risk coming across one or more fossils that will make you waste precious seconds. Having a little space in your pockets so you don't have to manage your inventory during the event is also a small time saver.
If the villager has a treasure hunt to offer you and you accept, you will have a few minutes to find an object buried on your island. This duration can vary, ranging from three to six minutes. Run in search of a mark similar to that of the fossils. When you have found it, go directly to the villager on the square on your island to give him the treasure within the allotted time.
Indeed, he is the only one who can open the gift to give you your reward, which he will not do after the timer has reached zero. If you fail, you'll end up with a useless item. You can try to get rid of it at Méli & Mélo, in a trash can and if that doesn't work, just put it on the ground on a mystery island.
